Machine Learning
Machine learning is a method of data analysis that automates analytical model building. It is a branch of artificial intelligence based on the idea that systems can learn from data, identify patterns and make decisions with minimal human intervention.
Leak Detection System (LDS)
A leak detection system monitors for commodity loss and alerts operators of potential leak scenarios. These systems may be internal or external, and continuous or non-continuous. In API RP 1175, LDS is defined as the endto- end application of a particular leak detection technique (RTTM, fiber optic cable, etc.).
Mega Rule
The Mega Rule is a set of three major rules that address safety of gas and hazardous liquid pipelines and expand federal pipeline oversight. The hazardous liquids rule extended leak detection requirements to all non-gathering lines and some regulated gathering lines.
